Under Me Sleng Teng
UNDER ME SLENG TENG unfolds as a tribute to Jamaican dub culture and its sound system lineage, anchored in the iconic Casio MT-40 riddim that shaped the legendary song Under Me Sleng Teng. The original track holds its position at the centre of the space, while fifteen alternate vocal performances take turns inhabiting the surrounding speakers, each voice briefly stepping forward before yielding its place. This circular arrangement allows the riddim to remain constant, while perspective shifts through location, timbre and phrasing. Voices emerge, overlap and recede, tracing a slow choreography around the central pulse. A field where repetition becomes spatial, and listening becomes a gentle movement through sound.
